Cala Gració is the closest proper cove to Sant Antoni. You can walk there from the town in about a quarter of an hour, yet once you are on the sand, the bay feels far away from it. Pines and junipers come down to the beach, a few old boathouses line one shore, and out to sea the long shape of Sa Conillera fills the horizon. That islet is why the sunset here is talked about almost as much as the one at Cala Comte.

Unlike the other coves in this guide, Cala Gració belongs to Sant Antoni de Portmany, not Sant Josep. Next door, across a low rocky promontory, is its little sister, Cala Gracioneta.

The two coves

Cala Gració is about 80 metres of sand, according to an island guide; Spain’s tourism portal measures it differently, so treat all these figures as approximate. The seabed is a mix of sand, rock and posidonia meadows. Sant Antoni council lists sun loungers, toilets and showers, an accessible entrance and a volleyball court. One island guide notes the showers are sometimes off to save water, and that there is an amphibious wheelchair.

Cala Gracioneta is tiny, about 30 metres across, and reached by a path of roughly 100 metres over the rocks. It has a restaurant right on the sand, whose customers can use its small car park for free, and it fills up from early morning in summer.

Both coves have a lifeguard from 1 May to 15 October under Sant Antoni’s beach contract.

Snorkelling at Cala Gració

Sant Antoni council lists an official snorkelling route starting from Cala Gracioneta. It follows the rocks, where the posidonia meadows begin a few metres out. Volunteers monitored the seagrass here in 2023, and you will see why: it is dense, and the fish use it.

Go early, before the boats arrive, and bring water shoes for the rocky entry at Gracioneta.

Sunset over Sa Conillera

From Cala Gració the big islet of Sa Conillera lies almost due west. Around the spring and autumn equinoxes the sun goes down right over it, and in midsummer it sets further north, over open water. The sunset calculator gives the exact time and compass bearing; at the equinox look for a bearing near 270°.

Getting to Cala Gració

On foot. It is about 2 km from the centre of Sant Antoni, about 15 minutes along the road north of the bay.

Bus. The Sant Antoni council page lists line P1 for both coves. The island’s buses changed operator in April 2026, so check the current line on the operator’s site.

Car. It is about 4 km by road from the centre of Sant Antoni and 24 km from the airport. There is a limited car park behind Cala Gració.

Boat. Small ferries leave Sant Antoni harbour for the bay’s coves in summer.

Of all the beaches in the comparison, this is the one to choose on a day when you do not want to leave Sant Antoni at all. Swim in the morning, walk back for lunch, and return for the sunset.
